Why the Terrorism? Answer: The Culture of Hate
One of the saddest elements of the conflict is the development of a Culture of Hate within the Palestinian population. Rather than being encouraged to work towards a peaceful coexistence with the Israelis, Palestinians are taught that Jews are inherently evil oppressors who want to steal their land, deny them their rights, and hurt them for no reason. In addition, they are taught that the entire land of Palestine is Arab, and that the Jews have no rights, and no connection, to the land. This incitement creates a society focused on blame, dehumanization, and destruction, rather than on reconciliation, compromise, and a better future.
For an example, please view the following video. This was shown on an official Palestinian Authority broadcast on the Muslim Sabbath on Friday, May 13, 2005:
The incitement comes from all of the typical societal role models: spiritual leaders, teachers, media, and family. Not surprisingly, young people taught to hate and destroy the Jews spend their time striking out at Jews, even if it works contrary to their national self-interest.
The following clip comes from Saudi TV, but is indicative of the poisoning of the minds of youth from all across the Arab world:
Radicalized to aspire to jihad from a young age, those who wish to strike out need one thing to act on their beliefs: advanced weaponry. Much of it arrives from tunnels under the Gaza-Egypt border.
